Covering the Hume catchment and beyond, from Victoria to southern New South Wales, Quarrell Civil Construction provides a turnkey civil solution.
The business, based in Goulburn Valley, provides project management, foundation, demolition, excavation and civil contracting services to developers, builders and government agencies undertaking civil construction projects.
“Our work is 95 per cent tendered works for councils and builders in the commercial industry,” says Marc Quarrell, Managing Director of Quarrell Civil Construction. “We supply plant and equipment all the way through to concrete infrastructure.”
Marc has more than a decade of experience in civil construction and has assembled a team of industry experts.
“In a highly competitive market, quality people are the difference between providing good service and great service,” he says – adding that some his more recent projects over the years include GVH Shepparton and Echuca riverfront redevelopments as well as site works on Twin River Primary School and various fuel depots.
In addition to excavators, skid steer loaders, rollers, water carts and trailers, the most recent addition to the fleet is a high productivity truck and dog combination from Bulk Transport Equipment (BTE).
“We believe this capital investment will increase onsite productivity as well as reduce our truck movements throughout each site which will boost site safety,” Marc says. “The new addition will carry a payload of 39.5 tonnes and will allow us to remove T350 from the truck and dog work and retire to just a float truck. This will, in turn, reduce our full usage and operational costs.”
Marc says the rigid and quad-axle trailer is custom engineered, designed and manufactured to suit the needs of his fleet. “The rigid is engineered to ensure it has correct weight distribution at the front and rear,” he says. “The combination has been completed to suit current Performance-Based Standards (PBS) regulations operating at a maximum gross under 19 metres. Also, BTE trailer chassis are made from lightweight high strength Strenx 700MPa steel, which we warrant five years – the best in the industry – and the bodies are built using premium aluminium plate and extrusions, manufactured to meet the high demands of tipping equipment with a minimum two-year warranty.”

The new BTE trailer is expected to travel all over Victoria and southern New Wales – the entire scope of Quarrell Civil Construction’s operations – and will carry quarry material into the company site and clean fill out.
Marc says dealing with BTE has been a pleasure. “Darren Jean our sales rep was very informative, honest and reliable throughout our build,” he says. “Whilst dealing with BTE we also had complete access to view the product being built. We also had contact from the owners of the company which offered up a family owned and operated experience which is in line with our company values. Our dealings, overall, have been exceptional.”
